Ryan Dupont

Undergraduate Research Mentor of the Year 2009
College of Engineering

Dr. Ryan Dupont, professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is currently mentoring four undergraduate students and consistently hires undergraduates in their freshman and sophomore years for his research projects.  From lab work to field work to data analysis, Dr. Dupont involves the students in all aspects of research.  His undergraduate research program also helps students see the application and context of theory they are learning in class being executed in real research projects.  As a result, environmental engineering students are retained in the Civil and Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and many have gone on to graduate school.  In addition, Dr. Dupont mentors the student club, Society of Environmental Engineering Students (SEES), and the student design team for the Water Environment Association of Utah (WEAU).
