Now in its eighth year, USU’s Research Week will be held April 2-6. Sponsored by the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, events throughout the week with highlight and celebrate faculty, graduate, and undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity.
“This is our annual opportunity to honor the great work and discovery being done by our best researchers, at all levels,” said Mark McLellan, vice president for research and dean of the School of Graduate Studies. “To do this even better, we’re expanding some of our traditional events and even adding some new ones.”

Monday, April 2, 2012: Faculty Research Day
New Faculty Researcher Luncheon

New faculty who have come to USU within the past year will be invited to a Q&A luncheon to get answers and provide feedback on their research experience during their first year.
Research Awards Gala (by invitation only)
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. | Riverwoods Conference Center
Dinner and program will recognize top faculty researchers of the year, including the 2012 D. Wynne Thorne Career Research Awardee.
Tuesday, April 3, 2012: Undergraduate Research Day
Student Showcase
9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. | TSC International Lounge and Colony Rooms
Undergraduates share their research projects at a judged poster session or through oral presentations.
URCO “Lightning Talks”
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | TSC Sunburst Lounge
Students will report on some facet of their research using 15 powerpoint slides for 15 seconds each.
Undergraduate Research Awards Ceremony
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. | TSC Sunburst Lounge
College Undergraduate Researchers and Mentors of the Year will be recognized. Poster category winners will be announced.

David Lancy, professor of anthropology, will give the annual address.
Faculty Author Reception and Exhibition
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. | Library room 101, New Books Lounge
USU's Richard Schockmel Faculty Book Room will be dedicated at a reception to recognize all USU faculty authors who published books in 2011. Three researchers will give a short presentation on their books.

Workshop Part 1: NSF Funding Panel

Crossroads Performance

The Fry Street Quartet joins with physicist and educator Dr. Robert Davies in an evocative performance combining music, information, imagery—and a dash of theater — merging intellectual with visceral, taking us from understanding to belief. Crossroads is a deep- seated contemplation of the choices before us, the paths they forge, and the dramatically different landscapes to which they lead.
Research Scholars Forum

Russ Price and Ray Reutzel will lead the capstone experience for the Research Scholars Certification Program, providing an in-depth look at the inter-related topics of authorship and publication.
NSF Fellows Information Workshop
